Andrew's company, Aldergrove-based Westwind Turbines, received GROW funding of £22,602. Andrew's interest in renewable energies led him to set up as a farm diversification business in 1994 distributing, installing and maintaining wind turbines and other renewable energy products. He identified a need to expand the manufacturing facilities in order to improve the capacity of the business, cutting the lead-in time for orders from 12-16 weeks to 8-10 weeks. This has given the company the flexibility to meet ever-increasing customer demands.
"We are a small engineering company in the renewable energy sector with a desire to grow and spread our wings. The current economic climate is difficult and thanks to some funding from GROW we have been able to buy additional engineering equipment and employ 2 additional staff members."
