Five Corners Guest Inn
- Awardee: Thomas McConnell
- Location: Ballyclare
- Council: Newtownabbey
- Grant: £5,000 (Project 1) £12,500 (Project 2)
Max McConnell and his wife Heather have been owners of the Five Corners Guest Inn in Ballyclare since 1992 and were awarded Rural Development Programme funding of £17,500 to develop the business.
Funding was provided to extend the restaurant, making facilities accessible for disabled visitors and to set up staff amenities. This project was part of the overall business growth strategy.
“Funding provided a kick start to develop our whole business, increasing the capacity of the business, improving our quality of service and ultimately attracting more visitors to the area. Improvements to the restaurant and public house are now complete and we have added a virtual golf simulator to our facilities, which allows golfers to improve the quality of their game by competing on a wide range of world championship courses in comfortable surroundings.”
