Are you a farmer interested in diversifying into non-agricultural activities? If so, DARD is holding a Diversification Awareness Day and Business Planning course which may be of interest to you. the Diversification Awareness Day will take place on:

The half-day will be led by DARD Rural Enterprise staff and aims to highlight the steps and stages required to make a business idea a reality. You will hear from other farm families that have diversified and get an appreciation of what business planning entails, the support available from DARD and what funding opportunities are available through the current Rural Development programme.
The Awareness Day will visit two businesses operating on family farms, just outside Antrim. Tardree Stone, run by David McConkey, which supplies and fits worktops to private and commercial customers and Country Cake Designs, owned and operated by Lorraine Duncan (who also features on the RDP In Action section of our website).
Both projects received funding under the previous Rural Development Programme and David and Lorraine are well versed on planning, rates, marketing, networking and sourcing finance, which they will share with you on the day. Their experiences are relevant to any business, irrespective of sector.
The event will commence at 9.30am and conclude at 1.30pm. Free transport will be available from a number of pick up points in County Antrim, however please note that places are limited.

Directions to Tardree Stone
From the M2, take the exit for Antrim Area Hospital. At the roundabout take the second exit onto Niblock Road towards Antrim town. Take the next right onto Steeple Road (signposted for Holywell Hospital). You will drive under 2 motorway bridges. Take the second road on the right - Potterswalls Lane and Tardree Stone is at the very end of the lane.
