Something Fishy Going On...
Get ready for a major, new festival from 21st - 28th May. Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Councils are hosting the South Antrim Fishing Festival to promote the excellent fishing opportunities for anglers. During the festival, there will be fishing competitions, fishing demonstrations from experts and free coaching sessions providing opportunities for novices to learn how to fish.
Three fly fishing competitions will take place throughout the festival at Straid Fishery, on Sunday 22nd May, Craigmore Fishery on Thursday 26th May and Tildarg Fishery on Saturday 28th May. Further information about the competitions can be found on the festival website www.southantrimfishing.com
The highlight of the festival will be the flagship events on Saturday 21st May in Market Square, Antrim and Saturday 28th May in Mossley Mill, Newtownabbey. As well as a continental market and children's entertainment, Jenny Bristow, Ireland's Good Food Ambassador, celebrated chef and author will be showcasing her skills as she demonstrates how to cook fish and seafood at her master classes. There will be lots of food stalls and to keep the 'fishy theme' there will be fly tying demonstrations.
